Bee- 8 months
Sweet Bee is 8 months old already! Oh time slow down. She is just a joy and a sweet girl. A mover and a shaker this girl is.
Bee- you are my love and so much fun. You are free with your smiles and stingy with your snuggles. You are fearless- going underwater and crawling toward destruction are no big thing for you. You love you momma and daddy the most but you usually don't have trouble going to your sitters or to the church nursery. I just can't convince you to slow down! You pulled up for the first time last week. Oh sweet little one stop it.
Likes:
Her new playroom but she likes to have company. She's an entertainer like her momma.
Sitting under things. The table. Her bouncer. Thinks its hi-lar-ious.
Her paci. On a string or free floating.
Falling asleep in the car... like 5 minutes from home.
Dislikes:
Moving. Hates the chaos and that leads to mommy mopping with an 18 pound stone tied to her hip.
Being put in her bouncer or walker. Don't I know she can freakin move now?!
Mobility
Kiddo is mobile now. ACK. I tried to push her down time and time again but she persevered to gain her independence. Of course it was the week we started moving. And she isn't a lazy crawler. She went straight to speed crawling. She's quick and rug burns appear on her knees or feet in minutes. Even though it's 110 outside we have the little one in pants or baby legs all the time with socks. Oy. The height of hilarity is to watch her try and crawl under the chairs. She thinks the rungs come out of no where and strike her in the head. She gets so mad and acts injured every time she bonks her head against them. She's also getting used to me saying "No, no, that's dirty," "That's Mommy's, not Bee's," and "Let's play with something else." All variations of "Dear goodness, no do not chew on my flip flop AGAIN."
Sleeping
It's been pure chaos at our house for the last month. Family visits, moving and merry go round childcare have been the death of her nap schedule. She normally takes 3 naps a day and goes down to bed at 7:15-7:30 pm then usually sleeps until 6:30-6:45 am. Her naps have been degrading from 1 1/5-1 1/2 hours to 45 minutes and she's been waking up as early as 5:15 am. The move has just exasperated everything. We have a week solid of at home childcare between James and me so we're already working hard to get her settled in the new house and back into her schedule. I'm stalking her new blackout blinds on the UPS site now. Hurry! Hurry!
Eating
Bee decided she hated solid food and went on a hunger strike for about a week and a half. She flat out refused to eat anything but her bottles. This lead to her not getting enough calories and having some night waking. We reintroduced all foods slowly and not forcing anything. I also cut out offering her solids at breakfast time. Like her momma she doesn't like breakfast. She's now back up to about 5 different foods and we're adding slowly. Also, we have also weaned her off her oh-dear-goodness-that's-expensive Alimentum formula to a ugh-that's-expensive Total Comfort formula. Thus far she's seemed ok with it. A increase in spitting up but not nearly as bad as before. She's not wild about the taste but oh wells baby. She's starting to drink a little water from a sippy cup and we're working on her dexterity with it.
Activities
Oh dear goodness. Kid already has "activities." Save me and my pocketbook already. We're doing her weekly swim lessons and she's doing great. My fearless fish is going under with no problems other than her intense desire to drink the pool water. We're working on that.
I think that's all for Bee's eventful month. I can't believe we're on the down slope toward a year old! I need to plan a party....
